Credentials and Training

I earned my Master's and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Simon Fraser University. My doctoral dissertation involved the development of a test and scoring system to measure normal narcissistic personality styles.

During my graduate training, my goal was to acquire a broad foundation of knowledge and skills, including:

  • Intensive psychotherapy training with a wide range of clients (adults, adolescents, and children), treatment modalities (Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Solution-Focused, and Play Therapies), and psychological assessment.
  • A one-year Clinical Internship at the Calgary Health Region, with rotations in Psychological Assessment, Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, Group Therapy, Inpatient Adolescent Treatment, and Child Therapy.
  • A Clinical Practicum in Neuropsychological Assessment at the UBC Hospital Alzheimer's Clinic.
  • One year as a facilitator/co-therapist for a sex offender rehabilitation group.
  • Two years with the Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Centre for Greater Vancouver, initially as a Crisis Counselor and then as a member of the Senior Support Team, where I supervised and trained new counselors.

After completing my Ph.D., I sought additional training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and anxiety, Trauma Therapy (EMDR Levels I and II), and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. I have also pursued training in Couples Therapy, including Gottman Marital Therapy (Levels I and II), Collaborative Couples Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (Clinical Externship).

As a Clinical Associate of Simon Fraser University, I supervise graduate students in their training as psychotherapists in the SFU Clinical Psychology Program.
